Dog Licenses: Residents can obtain dog licenses by mail, by using the Town Clerk’s Drop Box located outside the Town Hall by the front entrance to the building or in person in the Town Clerk's office. Notary Services: The Town Clerk’s Office provides Notary Services for residents only. Please call (860)644-2511 ext. 2325 to schedule an appointment.

Marriage Licenses: If you are planning to get married in the Town of South Windsor, please complete the Marriage License Worksheet found on the Town Clerk page.  Please do not include your social security numbers on the worksheet. Click here to email the completed form along with copies of your identification (i.e., driver’s license or passport). We will respond by email when we receive your request.

The Town Clerk’s office is the records management and information center for the Town. The Connecticut General Statutes and Town Charter charge the staff with hundreds of functions. Responsibilities include recording, reporting and maintaining land records, vital statistics and maintaining all Town Council, Boards, and Commissions agendas, minutes and records; recording and maintaining election results, issuing absentee and presidential ballots, various licenses and permits; and maintaining financial records for the collection of various fees and taxes for the Town and State.

We provide information on all property transfers and sales to the Assessor and Tax Collector. The staff issues and/or maintains records for marriage, dog, and liquor licenses. Photocopies of agendas, minutes, land records, and surveys are available for a fee, as are certified copies of birth, marriage, death, and veteran discharge records. Copies of the Town Charter and Ordinances are also available for a fee. Duties also include processing all town notary appointments, appointment of unaffiliated Justices of the Peace, accept for filing lawsuits and claims, record cemetery deeds, maintain burial records, process and publish town ordinances, and the annual audit report.

The office and land records vault are used daily by title searchers, attorneys, bankers, appraisers, civil engineers, surveyors, real estate agents, and the general public.
