The Assessor's Office is responsible for discovering, listing and valuing all real property, business personal property, and motor vehicles located within the Town of South Windsor as of October 1 each year in accordance with Connecticut State Statutes. We also administer various state and local benefit programs for our Elderly and Disabled Homeowners, as well as our Veterans and Legally Blind residents. The Assessor's primary duty is to determine the value of all taxable and tax exempt Real and Personal Property for the purpose of equitable tax distribution throughout the Town of South Windsor. Real property is assessed at 70% of a base year of value established on the October 1, 2022 revaluation. Personal Property and Motor Vehicles are also assessed at 70% annually.

Our objectives are to provide South Windsor taxpayers with courteous and responsive service, and to maintain an equalized tax base according to State Statute and professional standards. 


The 2023 Grand List was signed January 30, 2024

2023 Grand List Board of Assessment Appeals Information
For 2023 Real Estate - 2023 Personal Property - 2022 Supplemental Motor Vehicle Assessments

The Board will be meeting by appointment only in March 2024 for any resident who disagrees with their 2023 Real Estate assessment, 2023 Personal Property assessment, or 2022 Supplemental Motor Vehicle assessment. Applications must be in-office by Tuesday, February 20, 2024 either hand delivered, USPS mailed, or emailed (to: Assessor@southwindsor-ct.gov). If you are planning on hand-delivering the application to the Assessor's Office you must do so by 4:30pm. Motor Vehicle Information:

The Connecticut State Legislature passed Bill# HB-5506 with a Mill Rate cap of 32.46 mills for the 2021 Motor Vehicle Grand List. The Town of South Windsor Town Council adopted the 32.46 Mill Rate Cap on Motor Vehicles on May 9, 2022.

Remember, if a registered vehicle has been disposed of, please be sure to notify our office. You can submit the proper paperwork (bill of sale, canceled plate receipt, junked receipt, trade-in information, etc.) a few different ways:

  1. Through our Webform which can be found under the "Motor Vehicle Bill Adjustment" tab to the left of the screen.
  2. Emailed to: Assessor@southwindsor-ct.gov
  3. If you have no computer access you may mail to: 1540 Sullivan Ave, South Windsor CT 06074, Attention: Assessor's Office
