Welcome to the Town of South Windsor’s Assessor website! We hope you find it a useful resource for practical information about property values and the assessment process. Field card data and maps are also easily accessible.
The Assessor’s Office is responsible for discovering, listing, and valuing all real property, business personal property, and motor vehicles located within the Town of South Windsor as of October 1 of each year in accordance with Connecticut State Statutes. We also administer various state and local benefit programs for our Elderly and Disabled Homeowners, as well as our Veterans and Legally Blind residents. The Assessor’s primary duty is to determine the value of all taxable and tax exempt Real and Personal Property for the purpose of equitable tax distribution throughout the Town of South Windsor. Real property is assessed at 70% of a base year of value established on the October 1, 2017 revaluation. Personal Property and Motor Vehicles are also assessed at 70% annually.
Our objectives are to provide South Windsor taxpayers with courteous and responsive service, and to maintain an equalized tax base according to State Statutes and professional standards.
*2019 Real Estate/ Personal Property & 2018 Supplemental Motor Vehicle Board of Assessment Appeals*
If you contest the value of your 2018 Supplemental Motor Vehicle value, or your 2019 Personal Property or Real Estate Values, you may want to appeal with the Board of Assessment.
They will be meeting March 9, 10, & 11 at the Town Hall in the Sprenkle Room, on the lower level;
between 6:00pm - 9:00pm
The Board of Assessment Appeal Forms MUST be completed and in our office by February 20, 2020. The forms can be found in the office, or online under the "Forms and Documents" page.
*2019 Personal Property Declaration*
2019 Personal Property Declarations have been mailed out on Thursday, September 19, 2019. If you receive a declaration and do not have a business in South Windsor, DO NOT ignore this form.You must reply indicating that you do not own a business in town, etc. Otherwise, the Assessor will have to assign your business a value if you do not file or respond.
Declarations must be back in the Assessor's Office by November 1, 2019. Late filings will result in a 25% penalty. If an extension is necessary, please email the Assessor:

To adjust your 2018 Motor Vehicle bill, please provide all information by December, 2020.

The motor vehicle tax bill covers the period of October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019. If a vehicle was replaced after 10/1/2018 and the registration was transferred to another vehicle, this bill is still due. You will recieve an automatic credit for this vehicle on a supplemental bill in January 2020. For vehicles sold, stolen, totally destroyed and the registration was not transferred to another vehicle, or if you have moved out of state, you may be eligible for a tax credit. To obtain a credit, you must furnish proof as required by the Assessor - Phone: 860-644-2511 ext. 312.
