  1. When is bulky waste collection? Do I need to schedule a pickup?
    Bulky waste collection is once each a month during the first full week of the month, beginning on Monday, on trash collection day. Bulky items must be separated from other refuse and recyclables and placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. for collection.  It is not necessary to schedule a pickup.

    CONDOMINIUMS: Bulk items (items not fitting in dumpster) will be collected once each month during the first full week of the month, on Friday only. The Bulky Waste Collection for the following Condominiums: Brookside, Bryrewood, Burr Meadow, Chapel Hill, Cinnamon Springs, Mill River, Parkview South, Pleasant Hills, Pleasant Valley, Plum Ridge, Strawbridge, and Westage Condominiums.

    It is not necessary for the condominium association or resident of the condominium to call the Public Works Department for bulky waste collection. Home improvement contractor generated building material wastes are not acceptable
     
  2. When is scrap metal collection? Do I need to schedule a pickup?
    Scrap metal is recyclable. Call Town Hall prior to noon on Tuesday for a Wednesday metal pickup. Metal is only picked up with advance notice. A fee in the amount of $20.00 is charged for items containing Freon – refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, etc. The fee must be paid in advance of pickup. Please contact the Public Works Department at the (860) 644-2511, ext. 343 or request a metal pickup online.
     
  3. How can I obtain a second refuse container?  Is there a fee?
    A household may request a second container for an annual service fee by contacting the Public Works Department at (860) 644-2511, ext. 343 or may submit a request online. The annual service fee will be subject to annual price adjustment review. An invoice for additional container service will be mailed to those residents receiving this service and must be paid by June of each year in order to continue with the program
     
  4. Is refuse and recycling collection delayed due to the upcoming holiday?
    Refuse and Recycling collection is delayed by one day only on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, or as noted by the Town in a local newspaper or on its website.
