Memorial Tree Program

The Town of South Windsor Memorial Tree Planting Policy

Companies, Clubs, and individuals may donate a shade, flowering, or specimen tree to be planted in remembrance of a friend, co-worker, or family member and have the tree and a memorial plaque placed in one of South Windsor’s many Parks and Preserves. Interested parties must contact the Parks Division of Parks & Recreation at (860) 648-6366 for consultation.

The Town of South Windsor will secure, plant, and mulch the tree; install a plaque and plaque stand; and maintain the tree as a Town tree.

Notice of at least three weeks prior to the desired planting date is recommended.

Many locations are available and will be determined at consultation.

Tree varieties must be approved by the Parks and Grounds Division. Recommendations are available upon request and will be dependent on location. The specimen tree(s) will be personally selected or approved by the Town's Tree Warden or his designee. Trees will be a minimum of two inches in caliper.

The Town of South Windsor will gladly make provisions for a 6"x8" vinyl engraved plate mounted on a carved teak backboard or the donor may provide their own.

The Town will not be responsible for delays in engraving, shipping, or lack of plant material.
