Press Release - Beelzebub Road Reconstruction Project

In preparation for the reconstruction of Beelzebub Road, the Town’s tree contractor, Distinctive Tree Care will be working to remove trees on this road starting on or about April 6, 2022.  The needed tree work will take a week or so to finish.

This tree work is in preparation for the reconstruction of Beelzebub Road including new stormwater drainage and full depth reconstruction of the roadway with new stone base, pavement, curbs and possibly concrete sidewalks along one side the road that is planned to start later this spring and continue into the summer and fall.  We are coordinating the road work with Eversource and Frontier who need to relocate some utility poles and install a new gas main on this road.

Beelzebub Road will be closed to through traffic for this tree work because the contractor will be using large heavy equipment to cut up and remove the trees.  Local residents will be able to access their properties and vital services will be allowed to use the road, but there will be delays.  Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes around Beelzebub Road during this work.

If you have any questions regarding this project, feel free to call the Engineering Department at 860-644-2511 ext. 2344.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Doolittle, PE. Town Engineer/Assistant Director of Public Works
