CLICK HERE to Request Additional Refuse Container

Residents are asked to contact All American Waste at 860-289-7850 for any questions or concerns pertaining to collection of Refuse, Recycling, Bulky Waste, and Scrap Metal.

The Town of South Windsor requires the use of a standard wheeled container by all residents for refuse collection.  Each residence was supplied with one container.  The containers are available in two (2) sizes: 95 gallon and 65 gallon.  Under the automated collection program all bagged refuse must be placed in th container provided or it will not be collected.  The standard color for all refuse containers are dark gray.

Curbside collection of refuse will take place once each week on the same day in accordance with the existing routine schedule. Bulky waste will be collected once each month on the first full week of the month, beginning on Monday. Routine schedule collections shall be made on every legal holiday, except the following: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, or as noted by the Town in a local newspaper or on its website. Collection not made because of a holiday shall be made the following day and the remaining weekly schedule shall be one day later than normal.

Residents shall place refuse containers and bulky waste items at a point immediately to the rear of the sidewalk (where one exists), or 3 feet from edge of pavement. Residents are reminded to have all items at the curb the night before their scheduled pick-up.  Routes can change for many reasons which may alter the collection time on your street.

Refuse must be placed in the container provided or it will not be collected.

All cans are the property of the contractor.  Please DO NOT take the refuse container or the recycling container should you move/sell your house.

Can I exchange the container for either a larger or smaller size?

If you wish to exchange the container you've received for either a larger or smaller container, please contact All American Waste, LLC at (860) 289-7850, between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

How Can I Request a Second Refuse Container?

A household may request a second container for an annual service fee by contacting the Public Works Department at (860) 644-2511, ext. 2343 or submit a request online. The annual service fee will be subject to annual price adjustment review. An invoice for additional container service will be mailed to those residents receiving this service and must be paid by June of each year in order to continue with the program. Failure to pay this invoice will result in the removal of the additional container(s) during the final week of June each year. If removed, there will a $35.00 per can reinstatement fee payable within the first three months (July through September inclusive) of the fiscal year, before return of container.

Grass Clippings - Due to Changes in State Law

Grass clippings can no longer be disposed of with refuse and will no longer be collected at the curb by the Town. Trash mixed with grass clippings will not be collected. Grass clippings should be left on the lawn, removed by private contractor, or brought to a State permitted site.  Click Here for more information
