Miscellaneous Industrial User - General Permit Notification

Connecticut state law requires all discharges of wastewater to obtain a permit for their discharge (CGS Sec 22a-430).   On September 29, 2021, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (“DEEP”) issued a “General Permit for Discharges from Miscellaneous Industrial Users” (“General Permit”) which was effective on 10/31/2020 and expires on 10/30/2025. The General Permit allows certain wastewater discharges to publicly owned treatment works (“POTW”), subject to the oversight of the applicable POTW Authority, which in South Windsor is the Water Pollution Control Authority. Industrial dischargers must register qualifying discharges with the POTW and certify that the discharge meets the criteria of the terms and conditions of the General Permit.
