Support Services

The Support Services Division includes the public safety dispatch function. Public safety communications for police, fire and medical are handled through the dispatch center in the police facility. This is the state designated Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for South Windsor.  In addition to being responsible for the PSAP, the Support Services Division is the official "keeper of the records" for the department.  The Division also provides for a number of other support services for the police department including Evidence, coordinating Fleet Services, Maintenance and Property, and Equipment, as well as the Records unit. The division employs a total of 14 positions.

Commander of Support Services

 Lieutenant Christopher Duchesne assumed command of Support Services in November 2021.  He has served with the South Windsor Police Department since 1996, serving as a Sergeant for the last 7 years. LT. Duchesne has served as a patrol officer, a field training officer, an investigator with the Criminal Investigations Unit, an investigator with the Traffic Unit, a motor officer, a Sergeant serving as the evening shift patrol watch commander, and as the Traffic Unit Supervisor and Local Traffic Authority Designee (LTA) for the town of South Windsor. As Lieutenant, LT. Duchesne served as Commander of Operations in 2021 until his transfer to Support Services.  LT. Duchesne holds a bachelors degree from Charter Oak College, has numerous Chief's Awards, two Distinguished Unit Medals, and a Life Saving Award.
