Communications Manager

The Support Services Commander oversees the communications center and serves as “keeper of the records”.  A Support Services sergeant is assigned as the direct supervisor for the dispatchers.

The communications center at police headquarters is the recognized PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) for the Town of South Windsor. All 9-1-1 calls for any type emergency come to the police communications center. The center is staffed by two people 24-hours a day/every day of the year. The dispatchers are trained in EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch). Calls are tracked and managed using a computer aided dispatch system (CAD). Dispatchers are responsible for dispatching all emergency services to include police, fire, medical, mutual aid and Lifestar.
