Deputy Chief Brian C. Eckblom has been a member of our agency since 2004. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History from Bates College and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ) from Central Connecticut State University. Deputy Chief Eckblom started in law enforcement as a reserve police officer in Wells, Maine and also worked as a seasonal law enforcement ranger in Yellowstone National Park. Additionally, he volunteered with the Manchester Fire Department as an Emergency Medical Technician and firefighter while managing his family’s manufacturing company in Manchester prior to working for the South Windsor Police Department.


Deputy Chief Eckblom has served our police department as an Emergency Medical Technician, a Field Training Officer and as a Police Officer Standards and Training Council certified instructor. While assigned to the department Traffic Unit he became a certified accident reconstructionist and served on the regional reconstruction team, Metro Traffic Services. He has also served the department as the school resource officer at South Windsor High School. Deputy Chief Eckblom spent time in patrol as the evening shift watch commander after being promoted to Sergeant. He was also the department’s Training Coordinator and manager of the Youth & Victims Unit. Most recently, Deputy Chief Eckblom has been the Commander of the Special Services Division overseeing the Criminal Investigations Unit, Traffic Unit, and Youth & Victims Unit.  Deputy Chief Eckblom was promoted on January 24, 2021.
