Andrew A. Paterna, Ph.D. 

Andrew Paterna has worked at Manchester Community College for 40 years.

As a professor in Health & Exercise Science, he taught courses in Health, Wellness, Nutrition, Exercise Science and Therapeutic Recreation. Although he retired in 2011, as Professor Emeritus, he currently continues as an adjunct professor at MCC. His wife, Joan Paterna, is Professor Emeritus of Psychology at Manchester Community College and taught at the college for 26 years.

Dr. Paterna is involved in promoting a healthy community through healthy eating, nutrition, exercise, and support for locally grown food. He is actively engaged as an advocate for preserving South Windsor farmland. He continues this work through the Farmers Market, the Agricultural Land Preservation Advisory Commission, the South Windsor FOOD Alliance, the South Windsor Land Conservation Trust, and the South Windsor Hunger Action Team.
