July 8, 2021 Everbridge Message

Good Afternoon,

This is Michael Maniscalco, Town Manager for the Town of South Windsor. Due to the multiple damaging storms and Tropical Storm Elsa which is slated to impact Connecticut tomorrow, I have signed a Declaration of Emergency for the Town of South Windsor. This will allow the Town access to Federal or State funds in the event that they become available. Additionally, it brings to bear the full resources of the Town of South Windsor in order to protect life and property throughout the declared emergency period.

Over the last 48 hours, the Towns public works crews, fire department, and police department have responded to over 125 trouble spots within Town. We are expecting over the next 48 hours to see additional rain, causing possible flooding and the possibility of more fallen trees. Please help the Town avoid additional flooding. If you see a catch basin that is covered with debris, please clear it. The Town has opened a temporary debris site on Burgess Road. Please call public works at 860-648-6366 for hours of operation.

In preparation for tomorrows storm, please charge your mobile devices so you can receive the most up to date information. The Town will be releasing information through its social media accounts, the Town Webpage, and through reverse 911 calls like this. If your power goes out, please call Eversource at 800-286-2000. In the event of an emergency, please call 911.

Stay safe and Goodnight.
