Eversource Transmission Maintenance Work

Eversource will be performing transmission maintenance work along the right-of-way that exits Barbour Hill Substation and heads southeast into Vernon. All abutting property owners will be notified by door hangers and will be offered on-site briefings to discuss the scope of work taking place on their properties. Following is the message from the door hangers:

August 2016

Dear Neighbor,

As part of our everyday effort to deliver reliable energy and superior customer service, Eversource Energy is scheduled to start transmission work in your area within the next week.

Reliability Improvements in Your Neighborhood
This maintenance work is taking place on the Eversource right-of-way that is on or near your property. Please note that this work will not interrupt electric service to your home or business.

What You Can Expect
Crews from Par Electrical Contractors Inc. and Supreme Industries will be replacing structures or insulators on existing transmission structures located on or near your property.

For the structure replacement work, there will be construction vehicles on the rights-of-way, including heavy equipment. Associated work may include site grading, mowing/vegetation removal, setting of timber mats. Cranes and/or bucket trucks are used to lift the structures and set them into position on the foundations.

In addition, construction pads, or level work areas generally 100 feet by 100 feet, will be installed to establish a stable work area for equipment, such as drill rigs and cranes. Access roads will be created to each structure as well.   Supreme’s work area preparation averages 4-5 days at each structure location, but varies depending on the scope of work in each particular location. At project completion crews will restore areas disturbed by work.

Work hours will be Monday through Sunday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Project is expected to be complete by early 2017.  Please keep in mind the schedule is subject to change due to weather and other unexpected circumstances.

Keeping the lines of communication open is an important part of our work in your community.  If you have questions about this project, please call the Eversource Transmission Information Line at 1-800-793-2202 or email us at TransmissionInfo@eversource.com.
