DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY – AUGUST 11th 6:00 am to 8:00 pm
CT is a closed primary state so therefore you must be an enrolled member of the Democratic Party.
The Registrars of Voters will be accepting new registrations for the August 11th Presidential Preference Primary until August 6th. If you are registered with a political party already, you have missed the 90 day restriction to switch parties. Unaffiliated voters have until noon on August 10th to switch to Democrat . If you are not sure if you’re registered with the party, go to portal.ct.gov/sots/elections & voting. You will find a voter look up tool that will give you your information.
New party affiliated voters (those enrolled after June 19th) will receive an absentee ballot application with their acceptance letter. Please do not wait until the last moment to register. The State is giving everyone an opportunity to vote by mail for the Primary but you, as the voter must take into consideration the time to mail the application, receive the ballot and return the ballot. While the P.O. is doing the best it can, service has been a little slower than before the pandemic.
Polling locations have been altered to protect the voters for the primary ONLY. District 1 (Pleasant Valley School) and District 2 (Eli Terry School) have been moved to the SWHS. Letters have been sent to all the voters impacted by this change.
