SWCA Presents Pianist Gilles Vonsattel in Concert November 20th

On Sunday, November 20, 2022 South Windsor Cultural Arts will feature pianist Gilles Vonsattel in concert. An “immensely talented” and “quietly powerful pianist” (The New York Times), Swiss-born American Gilles Vonsattel is an artist of extraordinary versatility and originality. Recipient of an Avery Fisher Career Grant and winner of the Naumburg and Geneva competitions as well as the 2016 Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award, Gilles has in recent years appeared with the Boston Symphony, Tanglewood, Chicago Symphony, Munich Philharmonic, Gothenburg Symphony, San Francisco Symphony and Detroit Symphony orchestras. His 2014 New York solo recital was hailed as “tightly conceived and passionately performed…a study in intensity” by The New York Times.

The program will include selections from “The Art of the Fugue” and “Prelude in C Major” and “Prelude in c minor” from The Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1 by J.S. Bach; selections from “24 Preludes and Fugues, Op. 87” by Shostakovich; Mendelssohn’s “Variations sérieuses”; and, Beethoven’s “Sonata in c minor, Op. 111”.

The concert starts at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Crossing Retirement Community, 900 Hemlock Ave, South Windsor, CT. Seating begins at 1:30 and is on a first-come, first-served basis. The concert is FREE and donations are welcomed. A reception with the artist will follow the concert hosted by Evergreen Crossing Retirement Community.
