The Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) is a statutorily independent entity having complete jurisdiction over all elements of the sanitary sewer system within the Town including the approval of budgets, sewer use fees, and connections to the public sewer system.  The Division of Pollution Control is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Town's municipal sanitary sewage system to insure the protection of public health and compliance with Federal and State discharge permit requirements.

Pollution Control also manages the contracted services for the collection and disposal of curbside refuse and recyclables.  The Division also coordinates opportunities for residents to properly dispose of their bulk waste, scrap metal, household hazardous waste, textiles, electronics, and food waste.

COMPOSITION:  Seven (7) members and two (2) alternates

ESTABLISHED BY:  Ordinance #205 (Amends Ord. #150 from 1998)      

YEAR:  2014                                

TERMS:  Four (4) years for members; and two (2) years for alternates

CURRENT MEETING SCHEDULE:  1^st Tuesday of each month except July and August. There is no meeting held in July and August. 

GENERAL POWERS AND DUTIES:  As provided under Connecticut General Statutes Section 7-245 et. seq. and Special Act 2-260 of 1969.
