Chosen to commemorate the date the Connecticut Courant published the full text of the Declaration of Independence.
Activities include:
• Community reading and signing of the Declaration
• Concession stand
• Games and activities
RECENT HIGHLIGHTS
• The first lawn chair chat of the season at the Mary Jeanette Elmore House drew more than 30 participants.
• A successful program was co-hosted with the South Windsor Women’s Club.
• The April 30 presentation, “From Liberty to Legacy,” explored the Declaration of Independence through the lens of two Broadway productions and welcomed 47 attendees.
• The Town Council participated in a ceremonial reading of the Declaration of Independence in recognition of America 250 and Independence Day.
• The Town welcomed Barbara Bissell-Erway, a descendant of Captain John Bissell, for a special historical visit to Town Hall and the library’s Bissell Ferry Boat replica display.
