Planning & Zoning - Beware of Ongoing Scam Attempts

We want to alert our valued applicants to a recent scam targeting individuals by impersonating The Planning and Zoning Department.

What’s happening:
We’ve been made aware of fraudulent messages (via email) going out to applicants requiring additional application fees for an application to be approved. 

What you should know:

• We never ask for additional payments through wire transfer. Fees for any applications are discussed in person with the applicant. 
• All email communications will come from our verified channels, such as from OpenGov.com. 
• If you receive any suspicious communication, do not click on any links or provide any information.

What to do if you're contacted:

• Do not respond.
• Take a screenshot or copy the message.
• Report it to us immediately at 860-644-2511, ext 2329.
