Pistol Permits

Update July 7/30/2021

IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING CIVILIAN FINGERPRINTING: The Connecticut Criminal History Request System (CCHRS) is now up and running. If you are planning on getting fingerprinted for any reason in South Windsor, you will need to go to https://ct.flexcheck.us.idemia.io/cchrspreenroll/ and enter our service code: 3226-F194.

Please follow the prompts and complete the pre-registration and you will receive a PDF with an Applicant Tracking Number. Please bring this Application Tracking Number to the SWPD so Biometric Identification Services (BIS) can complete the fingerprinting process.

As a reminder, BIS are at the SWPD the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursday of every month from 3PM to 6PM. The fee of $25 will still need to be collected by BIS in the form of cash, money order, bank check or business check. The rest of the fees will be paid through the pre-enrollment system.

After being fingerprinted, you can submit your notarized pistol permit application at the Dispatch window in the Police Department lobby.

In order to submit your application you will need the following:

• Completed and notarized pistol permit application.

• Copies of Driver’s License, valid Passport, or Birth Certificate

• Documentation of your successful completion of an approved firearms safety class

• $70.00 fee (cash, personal check, or bank check/money order) payable to the Town of South Windsor

If you have any questions please contact Records Clerk Jordan Hosey at 860-648-6223.
