Chief Scott P. Custer is a 29-year veteran of the South Windsor Police Department, and mostly recently served as Deputy Chief of Police. Prior to that promotion he served as Commander of the Support Services Division. Chief Custer was hired in 1989 and has served the department in many roles through the years. He has served as a Lieutenant and Sergeant in the department’s Support Services division and served as Public Information Officer, Recruiting Officer, Evidence Officer and Communications Manager.
Chief Custer has served as a Criminal Investigator, a D.A.R.E. Officer, Field Training Officer, Narcotics Investigator and has served as a Patrol Supervisor. He holds bachelor’s degree from Charter Oak State College, and an Associate’s Degree from Manchester Community College. He is a graduate of the Connecticut’s Criminal Justice Command Institute Supervisory Leadership Program and received a Master of Public Administration Degree from the University of New Haven in 2015.
