COMPOSITION:  Twelve (12) members as follows: Member from Parks and Recreation Commission, Member from Planning and Zoning Commission, Member from Inland Wetlands Agency/Conservation Commission, Member from Agricultural Land Preservation Advisory Committee, at least 3 members of the Public, Director of Public Works, Superintendent of Parks and Grounds, Director of Planning, Member of the South Windsor Land Trust and a Member of the South Windsor Chamber of Commerce. The Task Force may also include any other members that the Council may appoint.

CURRENT MEETING SCHEDULE:  1^st Monday of the month

GENERAL POWERS AND DUTIES:  Report directly to the Town Council in an advisory capacity. Some duties have included:

• Undertaking the writing of the Ordinance #136 – Subdivision Open Space Use and Maintenance Ordinance along with the Implementation Program.
• Walking each subdivision and non-subdivision put before the Task Force by the Town Manager and Town Council. For this, the Task Force has established a ranking and rating system.
• Applying for State Grant Monies for purchase of Town-owned open space. For the grants that were approved and monies received, the Task Force followed up on any required regulations, and advised  the Council of such.
• Education of Subdivision and Non-Subdivision Open Space. This has been done via publications, property tours for residents, and forest management of properties.
• Programs involving Girl Scouts in the mapping, and potential for future involvement with the Open Space Task Force.
