About the Inland Wetlands Agency / Conservation Commission
Overview
- The Inland Wetlands Agency / Conservation Commission typically meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month in the Madden Room at 7:00 p.m.
- Special meetings are held as required, and there is no meeting in the month of August.
- Established by CGS §22a-42, June 4, 1973 Resolution, Town Council Ordinance 99
- Nine (9) members and two (2) alternates.
General Powers and Duties
- To establish, change or repeal inland wetland regulations, boundaries of inland wetlands. Note that tidal wetlands are excluded from municipal regulation. See part 2, Section II.D of manual.
- To hear, consider and decide upon petitions for changes in the inland wetland regulations.
- To take appropriate actions to enforce the inland wetlands regulations and conditions of permits.
Applying to IWA/CC
- Applications submitted to the Inland Wetlands Agency / Conservation Commission are officially received on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month.
- For the cutoff date for filing applications, call the Planning Department.
- Fees are as follows:
- Single House Lot - $110.00
- Site Plans - $260.00
- Subdivision Plans - $360.00 plus $50.00 per lot
- Public Hearing - $330.00
- Map Amendment - $260.00
- Minimal Impact Permit - $110.00
- Minor Modification of Permit - $110.00 (include signs)
- Map Amendment - Single family lot $95.00
- Documents required are as follows:
- 15 copies of application form
- 3 sets of review draw
- 4 sets of revised drawing for the public hearing
- 1 set of drainage comps
- Abutter notification (required by certified mail)
- You must send a representative to the Inland Wetlands Agency/Conservation Commission meeting when your application is being reviewed.
