September History Events Called Off

South Windsor Historical Society & Wood Memorial Library

Local history programs co-sponsored by the South Windsor Historical Society and Wood Memorial Library/Museum have been cancelled because of corona virus restrictions and may be rescheduled later.

Scott Brady was to present a Sept. 10 program on state and local archeological finds and their importance. Sept 12 had been set for an outdoor family program presented in Wood's Nowashe Village by Drew Shupter-Rayvis on native peoples lifeways, but recent storm damage could not be cleared in time for re-opening.

The society had earlier called off summer visits at its Pleasant Valley Schoolhouse Museum and its annual South Windsor Heritage Day event in the local historic district. For more information about the organization, visit www.southwindsorhistory.org or Faceback.

Wood will remain closed indefinitely, but may be followed on Facebook and Instagram where its newest exhibit, “Notable South Women,” is featured in in honor of the town’s 175th Anniversary.
