Starting on or about Tuesday September 3, 2019, the South Windsor Department of Public Works contractor B&W Paving & Landscaping, will be repaving Mascolo Road, and portions of Chapel Road, and Governnors Highway. All work is scheduled to be completed by the end of September.
Chapel Road and Governors Highway and will be Closed on the east side of their intersection with John Fitch Boulevard (Rte 5) (by the railroad tracks) for milling and paving operations. Detour signs will be posted to direct traffic around these areas. One lane will be open for traffic on Mascolo Road. Expect traffic delays during construction.
The old pavement will be milled to remove 2-1/2” and then 2-1/2” of new pavement will be placed on these roads. New curbs will be installed and driveway aprons will be removed and repaved as needed. Finally, topsoil and grass seed will be placed behind the new curbing.
While this work is taking place PLEASE do not park on these streets during the day or drive on the liquid asphalt tack coat that is placed on the road in front of the paving machine, as it will stick to and possibly damage vehicle tires and paint finish.
