NOTICE Effective Immediately

The Town of South Windsor is committed to serving the needs of our citizens under all circumstances. Although the circumstances presented by the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) are unusual, and in many ways unprecedented, our municipal officials and staff will continue to perform all public functions to the best of our abilities. Effective immediately, we are implementing modifications to our usual practices so that we may continue to perform our public functions in a manner that reduces the risk of transmission of Coronavirus to the fullest extent possible. 

Police, Fire, Ambulance and Paramedic Services. All public safety services will remain fully operational. If you have an emergency, please dial 911.

Senior Services. Our Senior Citizens Center has been closed to members of the public. All recreational, social, exercise and other programs are cancelled.   Meals on Wheels Service will continue as scheduled. Transportation will be provided for medical appointments and grocery shopping only. Please call the Human Services Department at 860-648-6361 with any questions or if you are in need of assistance with food.

Senior Transportation. Our Senior Transportation Service for citizens who are disabled or over the age of 59 years will continue as usual. Rides may be arranged by contacting the Transportation Office at 860-648-6357.

Public Works, Trash and Recycling Services. Our Public Works staff will report for duty as usual and all trash and recycling removal service will continue on their normal schedule. The Public Works Department on Burgess Road will be closed to members of the public but staff will be available by telephone at 860-648-6366. For trash collection information please call 860-644-2511 x343. 

Town Hall Offices. The Town Hall will remain open. However, members of the public are NOT allowed in the building. Business shall be conducted by telephone, email, online or to defer municipal business to a later date. If a visit to Town Hall is necessary, please call the involved town office in advance to arrange a time for your visit. The main number is 860-644-2511. 

Department of Social Services. The South Windsor Food Bank will remain open. Residents are required to call staff to place an order for pick up. Call: 860-648-6357.

Parks and Recreation. All programs cancelled until further notice. 

Youth Services. All programs cancelled until further notice.

Building Department. Will remain open. The public will need to call 860-644-2511 x330 to discuss service needs. 

Tax Office.The public is encouraged to obtain tax information and make payments online: www.southwindsor-ct.gov or drop payments off in the drop box outside the Town Hall.

Town Clerk. Will remain open but the public is asked to defer business to a later date if possible. For essential in-person visits please contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 860-644-2511 x325 to make arrangements. 

Town Library. Will be closing as of 4:30 PM effective Saturday March 14, 2020 until future notice. Staff will be in the building Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. while we are closed.  We will be providing reference service via telephone and e-mail, and our digital services will be available. Our book drops will be open and fines will be suspended while the building is closed.   

Public Meetings. All public meetings are closed to the public but will be broadcast via the government access channel on cox and frontier or the public can stream the meeting at www.southwindsor-ct.org. An email address will be provided for public comment prior to the meeting.

Gatherings. Employees shall conduct all business by telephone or email whenever possible. Employees or visitors to Town buildings shall limit in-person gatherings to no more than three persons.
