ABSENTEE BALLOT INFORMATION FOR THE MARCH 16, 2021 REFERENDUM

February 25 is the first day absentee ballots will be issued for the March 16th referendum.

Registered voters may request an Absentee Ballot Application and vote using an Absentee Ballot for one of the following reasons:

  • Illness
  • Physical disability
  • Absence from town during all voting hours
  • Religious beliefs forbidding secular activity on voting day
  • Duties as an election official
  • Active service in the Armed Forces

Please refer to the Memorandum of Opinion attachment below issued by the Office of the Secretary of the State on January 11, 2021 which clarifies the definition of “illness” for Absentee Balloting at a time when the State of Connecticut continues to face the COVID-19 pandemic.

The application for absentee ballot may be downloaded by an individual for: (1) the individual's own use; (2) the use of a member of the individual's immediate family; or (3) the use of a designee of the applicant.

NOTE: Any person who will distribute five (5) or more absentee ballot applications to persons other than the individual's immediate family must register with and obtain forms from the Town Clerk of the municipality where such forms will be distributed before distributing such forms.

Completed Absentee Ballot applications should be mailed to Town Clerk’s Office, 1540 Sullivan Avenue, South Windsor, CT 06074 OR placed in the Official Ballot Box located in front of Town Hall.
