Pianist SangYoung Kim performs November 3rd in SWCA concert

Pianist SangYoung Kim will perform as part of the South Windsor Cultural Arts concert series on Sunday, November 3, 2019.  Since her orchestra debut at age 9 with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Dr. Kim has been praised by the Cleveland Plain Dealer as a “brilliant champion,” and by La Libre Belgique for her “poetic enchantment” and “epic performance”.   As an internationally recognized pianist SangYoung Kim has gained attention through numerous competitions and solo performances with leading orchestras throughout South Korea, North America, Europe, and Israel. In May 2013, Dr. Kim became a Laureate of the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition.

Her performances and collaborations with other leading artists are frequently broadcast on WGBH radio. The program will include Schubert’s “Impromptu op. 90, no. 3” and “Sonata No. 20 in A Major, D. 959”; Samuil Feinburg’s “Piano Transcription of Scherzo from Symphony No. 6 in B Minor, Op. 74 “Pathetique” by Tchaikovsky; and Beethoven’s “15 Variations and a Fugue from Prometheus, Op. 35 “Eroica”.

The concert starts at 2:00 pm at the Wood Memorial Library, 783 Main Street, South Windsor, CT.  Doors are open at 1:30. Come early for best seats.  The concert is FREE and donations are welcomed.  This concert is sponsored by Edith Fein and the JE Shepard Company.
