Social Security Disability:
Notice of Award from the Social Security Administration must be filed with the Assessor prior to October 1, along with the Town forms in order to receive an exemption.
To be eligible for this exemption, a person must, as of October 1:
- File with the Assessor a Certification of Legal Blindness from the State of Connecticut Board of Education and Services for the Blind Industries Division;
- Be a Connecticut resident;
- Be either the record owner of, hold "life use" in, or be the beneficiary of a trust estate with respect to the property on which the exemption will be applied.
While forms are available for downloading from this site, they must be submitted to the Assessor's office. No online or electronic filing is available.
